Join a senior leadership team ready to take it to the next level! Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) is searching for a Chief Development Officer (CDO). This position will be responsible for the creation, coordination, implementation, and management of the organization's fund development efforts.

CASS is a non-profit 501 (c)(3), and the largest provider of emergency shelter and housing solutions to adults and families experiencing homelessness in Arizona. The mission of CASS is to empower men, women, and children with diverse needs to end their homelessness by helping them establish and maintain permanent housing.  For more information about CASS, please visit our website at www.cassaz.org.

The CDO will create a comprehensive development plan; lead and supervise the functions and positions within the department including grants, volunteers, database, corporate, special events, marketing/social media/communications; as well as build strong individual giving and Arizona Tax Credit campaigns. S/he will manage the development of materials including, but not limited to electronic and direct mail solicitations, proposals, budgets, annual reports, donor and sponsor recognition and acknowledgments.

Working with the CEO and board chair, the CDO will support board, major donors and foundation cultivation, engagement and stewardship.

The successful candidate must be a passionate advocate of resolving homelessness, desire to work in a collaborative environment, able to garner support for our cause and keep upbeat. S/he must have experience leading plans and activities to support revenue attainment, be familiar with private and public sector grant processes and have deep knowledge of fundraising operations, infrastructure, policies and procedures.

Skills / Requirements

Required qualifications include a Bachelor's degree (B.A. or B.S.) or equivalent; and a minimum of five years' experience in fund development, with three of those in a leadership role, or equivalent combination of education and experience. 

Special consideration will be given to applicants who possess an advanced degree in nonprofit management, business, marketing or public relations. Proven performance, high level of organization, attention to detail, dedication, ability to build and maintain a cohesive development team, and achievement of fund development goals are all important skills necessary for the position.
