Job Description

Arizona Housing Inc.(AHI) was created in 1995 as a separate 501(c)(3) corporation by Central Arizona Shelter Services (CASS) to promote and develop affordable, supportive housing as the solution to ending chronic homelessness. Currently, AHI owns and operates 4 multi-unit affordable housing communities that provide supportive services, with more to be developed in the future.

AHI is a seeking full-time Resident Services Coordinator(RSC) to serve as advocate for residents at it's 209 W Jackson property.  The RSC will help residents maximize their ability to live independently, employing a service delivery system that adapts to their changing needs and circumstances.  Services are compassionate, designed to help residents meet their individualized goals for self-sufficiency.  This is hands-on, active role.

Essential Functions

Advocate for residents to live independently:

  1. Engage residents and refer them to services; utilize tools such as Service Prioritization Decision Assistance Tool (SPDAT), Harm Reduction, Trauma Informed Care and Motivational Interviewing (MI);
  2. Review case plans with residents; provide resource information and referrals;
  3. Use supportive listening and other methods to identify residents’ eligibility for benefits that will increase income and financial stability;
  4. Encourage residents to pursue volunteer and employment opportunities; assist with budgeting;
  5. Help residents overcome social isolation and manage social anxiety; encourage positive natural support and meaningful activities;
  6. Provide transportation in agency vehicles to community-based resources;
  7. Observe residents’ behavior; identify and provide interventions to avert crisis situations.

Provide consistent individualized support services to residents:

  1. Distribute bus passes, hygiene and household items to eligible residents;
  2. Help residents obtain and complete forms and applications for services;
  3. Plan social events and educational workshops; facilitate meetings including Resident Council;

Ensure data integrity and accurate reporting:

  1. Enter SPDAT and residents’ data in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) daily;
  2. Review case plans and update with progress notes daily;
  3. Prepare and distribute Daily Log and other reports;
  4. Maintain complete and organized files.

Other Duties:

  1. Create and distribute monthly resident newsletter;
  2. Participate in staff meetings, workshops, and trainings;
  3. Assist in training and orientation of newly hired staff;
  4. Communicate and collaborate with outside agencies and referral resources;
  5. Perform other duties as required.

Physical Activities and Working Conditions

  1. Moving about on foot to accomplish tasks, moving from one floor to another;
  2. Sitting at a desk for extended periods of time to accomplish tasks;
  3. Ability to lift, carry, push or pull objects up to 10 pounds unassisted;
  4. Manual dexterity in order to use keyboard and mouse;
  5. Close visual acuity to prepare and analyze reports and data;
  6. Visual acuity to operate a motor vehicle.

Qualifications  

Required:        

  1. High school diploma or equivalent plus a minimum of two-years of social service experience;
  2. Intermediate proficiency in Word, Excel and Outlook calendaring; highly accurate data entry skills;
  3. Valid Arizona driver license, insurance and a satisfactory 39 month driving record;
  4. State of Arizona Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card or the ability to obtain one.

Preferred:

  1. Experience working with the homeless or impoverished;
  2. Bilingual in English and Spanish.
