Job Description

Job Summary:  The Facilities Supervisor assists the Facilities Manager with maintaining and supervising a Facilities program that provides for the health and safety needs of all clients and staff of the agency and its affiliates.  As directed by the Manager, the Supervisor assists with the day-to-day supervision of the Facilities staff and oversight of the facility operations in the below areas and is expected to report issues to the Manager in a timely manner.

Essential Functions:

  1. Monitor and maintain the efficient operation and working condition of all facilities and equipment;
  2. Monitor air control in all buildings on campus, including the Outreach Shelter building;
  3. Monitor boilers;
  4. Maintain upkeep of the grounds, including signage, lighting, water fountains, and parking lot design at Vista Colina;
  5. Purchase, track and repair, as needed, all equipment and hand tools in inventory;
  6. Research vendors and pricing for repairs requiring outside assistance, obtaining approval as necessary;
  7. Provide to supervisor supporting documentation and receipts for all purchases;
  8. Act as liaison between the agency and the vendor as directed;
  9. Assigns Facilities request tickets to staff and monitors completion;
  10. Comply with government standards related to OSHA, ADA, etc.;
  11. Assist Manager with the hiring, training, supervising, scheduling, evaluating, and terminating of assigned staff.
  12. Checks in daily with staff to ensure they are on track with completion of their work.

Other Duties:

  1. Maintain agency vehicles by performing monthly safety checks and scheduling routine maintenance with outside vendors;
  2. Participate on CASS committees as needed;
  3. Perform other duties as required;
  4. Assist Manager with supervising Maintenance Technician for the LDRC, Vista Colina, and the HSC.

Other Duties:

  1. Maintain agency vehicles by performing monthly safety checks and scheduling routine maintenance with outside vendors;
  2. Participate on CASS committees as needed;
  3. Perform other duties as required;
  4. Assist Manager with supervising Maintenance Technician for the LDRC, Vista Colina, and the HSC.

Physical Activities and Working Conditions:  The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear. This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling, climbing and reaching all day. The employee must frequently lift and carry items over 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus. The duties of this job frequently expose the employee to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts and vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to outside weather conditions.

Skills / Requirements

Qualifications:                         

Required:

  1. High school diploma or equivalent plus five years’ experience in facility maintenance and construction or design;
  2. Two years minimum of supervisory experience;
  3. Experience with the related risk management issues associated with twenty-four hour-a-day facilities with multiple work shifts;
  4. Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel;
  5. Demonstrated communication skills, both oral and written;
  6. Demonstrated organizational skills and attention to detail;
  7. CPR-First Aid certification within 90 days of employment;
  8. Naloxone (Narcan) training within 90 days of employment.

 Preferred:

  1. Associate degree;
  2. Experience working for a non-profit agency;
  3. OSHA certified.
